Independent Recycling Services offers various forms of education for office buildings, in order to help educate tenants on the recycling program.
Recycling Seminars
These seminars can be in-person, virtual, or pre-recorded. Ranging from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the set-up/requested style, seminars typically focus on the following:
- Background and history of recycling and/or composting
- The importance of recycling and/or composting
- Recycling 101 at the office, at home, or both
- Trash and recycling contamination
- How to compost at home
- How the building is performing (if applicable)
- Opportunities to increase performance and take steps toward being more sustainable

Meetings with Property Management
Your Independent Recycling Services Account Manager or Sustainability Coordinator can meet with Property Management to discuss the program and how to educate tenants. Meetings can also be with owners and residents.
Meetings with Cleaning Staff
Our Sustainability Coordinator can meet with your cleaning staff crew for a seminar, or just with the cleaning staff supervisors, to help re-educate on the program. Cleaning Staff is the eyes and ears of the building and not only is it valuable to receive their feedback, but it is also good to ensure they are collecting the trash and recycling correctly, and identifying instances of recycling contamination.
Event Tabling
Want to draw your tenants into recycling during April (Earth Month) or November (America Recycles Month)? Independent Recycling Services can set up shop in your lobby or other designated area. During this tabling, we will have some free give-a-way items, educational material and, best of all, we will be there to answer any recycling-related questions that you or your tenants may have.
