Snow Alert Winter Dumpster Service
Winter Weather Dumpster Service Guidelines
Winter weather can create challenges for dumpster service. Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures often cause dumpsters to become inaccessible or frozen, leading to delays. To help keep your service on schedule, please review these important guidelines from Independent Recycling Services.
What You Should Do:
-Clear all snow and ice from in front of your dumpster and around the corral area.
-Ensure gates can open fully and the path is accessible for our truck.
-Remove snow piles from the pickup area so our driver can back up safely.
-Add salt or ice melt around the base of the dumpster to prevent freezing.
-Loosen frozen material inside the dumpster with a shovel or broom before pickup.
What You Should NOT Do:
-Do not leave snow or ice blocking the dumpster or gates.
-Do not allow materials to freeze solid inside the dumpster.
If Your Dumpster is Frozen
-Pour warm (not boiling) water along the edges to break ice.
-Loosen frozen material with a shovel or broom.
